This was taken from the front door, at the top of the steps, looking down into the front yard. Notice the possum nestbox on the tree in the top left corner of the picture. Ken had to climb to the top of our extension ladder to install this! The stag horn fern on the gum tree in the centre of the photo started out as a few fronds taken from my stepmum's place about 15 years ago. All we do is put banana skins in it now and then. Must be the right spot and the right diet - it is HUGE!

I love the stag horn fern! I've never seen one that large. Thanks for sharing the pictures - I enjoyed them.

That is amazing. I've only seen a staghorn fern at the conservatory. What do the banana skins do? The possum nestbox is certainly interesting to this girl from the States. Thats new to me too. Your front door scenery is so lovely and tranquil looking. Like something out of a magazine. I'm enjoying this tour.

Hi girls, thanks for your comments. Maggie ann, banana skins are said to be very good food for these plants, and many people who grow staghorns pop their banana skins in amongst the fronds to feed them.
Sharlee, you can have a whole one if you like - we have a few around the garden! I have emailed you direct about this.
