So quaint...I never saw anything like it. What a gracious and calm way of living they must have had back then. I always think of that generation (whichever one it was) as having a LOT of hard work to get through daily living and not any luxeries. My Mums description of her life sounded like a lot of work on the farm.

I know exactly what you mean, Maggie - our predecessors did have a much harder life, many without even electricity, let alone the mod.cons. that we have today. But somehow they still found time to create these beautiful items. Perhaps for many women (not the wealthy ones) it was the only way to bring some beauty into their lives.
