This is actually two photos on one scan. The top pic shows a mother brushtail possum with her baby on board. The bottom pic is a ringtail possum - a much smaller species than the brushtail.

These are oppossums? So different than the ones here in the US. I'm glad you posted these photos here! Gina, if I find one more blog I like to read, I won't have to time to work or stitch!

No, not oppossums. Same family I think, but different animals altogether. I wish we had squirrels here. I couldn't get enough of them when I was in the States - always going to the parks with some bread or cake to coax them nearer so I could photograph them! And the chipmunks, SOOOOO cute!!!

Oh Gina, I have squirrels and chipmonks everywhere! I'll have to go outside with the camera and take some photos for you. I love them too. My neighbors complain about the chippies because they dig holes in everyone's yard. Scott and I couldn't care less. We love them.

That would be lovely, Pam - thank you! I will never forget when we was staying in Yellowstone National Park, in one of the cabins, and we were entranced by the prairie dogs. Some New Yorkers wandered past and the woman screeched "Oh my God they've got RATS here!!" Hubby and I couldn't believe how ignorant they were about their own native wildlife!
