Stitchin' Christmas gifts!

How well my friends know me, and how well they indulge me! I usually received a few 'embroidery-type' gifts for Christmas, and this year was no exception. Sharon gave me three lovely gifts - a miniature teapot (not shown here), a Cross Stitch book, and a square of linen printed with one of my favourite themes - old fashioned lady in her garden. I look after a 90 year old lady in my job, and when I showed her this, she promptly suggested which stitches I should use (and yes, I will be taking her advice!)

  1. Hi Gina,

Merry Christmas to you and your DH.
Hope that you had a wonderful day.

It's hard to believe that the day
has come and gone. It's early
evening here and as I type the
left over turkey is warming in
the oven, covered in left over
gravy for moisture and with a
dish of left over stuffing warming
next to it. I'm doing fresh
mashed potatoes and there is left
over Turnip casserole for me. DH
    doesn't like turnip. The house
    smells heavenly.

Today I baked one batch (about
    50 cookies) of ginger/butterscotch
cookies, and a batch (about 40
    cookies) of shortbread cookies. I
haven't had time to bake until now
and so have some catching up to do.

I received an IPOD dock for
    Christmas and played my favourite
music from it OUT LOUD while I
was baking. A rock'n good time.

It was snowing heavily when I got
up this morning, but that stopped
after a little while and the
    temperature has been rising. We'll
    get rain and warm temperatures
    tomorrow. Not very festive, to
our way of thinking, but what can
    you do??

The birds continue to eat us out
of house and home. DH put out
two suet cakes and the Woodpeckers
and the Juncos have been eating
those. And so has a little brown
    squirrel. It's fun to watch.

The Gold finches, in their olive drab winter coats, are flocking
to the tube feeders and there is much jostling for prime positions
    to feed.

    We can hear the nuthatches
but haven't seen them. They store
seed for the winter so aren't as
desperate for food as the other,
    less industrious birds are.

I love the thought of the cooling
    shower you've installed for the
birds at your place. I would
    love to see that!!

Your ATC pieces are so much fun
to look at and are absolutely the
coolest things I've seen in ages.
I really love the coffee cup one
with the pretty stitches on it.
It's amazing to see what you can
    achieve with some pretty fabric
    and buttons and specialty stitches.

Bet you can turn those skills to
    making really great scrap booking
    pages too.

Will you be doing anything special
for New Years?? We don't usually
do much here, preferring a quiet
    restful evening at home. Sometimes
    we'll gather with friends,
    depending on how we feel.

Hope you have a great New Years.
    It's been great visiting with
your blog this year and seeing
    your sewing skills develop.

    Gotta run....Cheers!

  2. I didn't get any beading gifts for Christmas, but I did get a subscription to Fiber Arts Magazine! (I am bored with the beading ones. LOL.) Anyways, I think you will like my current project! ;)
