I SWEAR I wasn't going to do this...
As if I haven't got enough stitching projects to last me into the next ten lifetimes! I've admired Pam Kellogg's CQs for ages, and then found more to drool over on other blogs, but decided I would not even THINK of doing one myself. Not enough time. My embroidery skills are too basic. But then I joined the Take A Stitch Tuesday group on Stitchin Fingers as you know if you've been reading my blog for more than 3 weeks. And I've discovered how much fun I can have experimenting with different ways of doing those basic stitches. What's the most fun way those experiments can be used? On a Crazy Quilt block of course. Sharon H. showed me how to get started on Thursday. Well, she did most of it, then when I got home I played some more. Here it is, ready for embellishments in the form of stitches, beads and buttons. Lucky I'm going to the Quilt & Craft Fair in a few weeks (not so lucky for the credit card though...)
Sharon here Gina on Erins comp. - well you did yourself proud - I was thinking about your block and what we could have done if time hadn't been the essence - but you have done well - what you need to do now is iron the complete block and rule a line just on the inside edge of the crazy block and doing a running(tacking) stitch right around that edge to hold all the pieces onto the backing... Good on you girl for your effort - just as well I decide not to go today - the car died in a major way and has cost us more than we first thought...Hope you and Helen have lots of fun!!!!

bit and the tea cup look so lovely
featured there. Good for you.

talk about your apron collection.
I don't know if I'd be able to
talk in front of a group of people
like that. Too bad the camera
didn't work. I would have enjoyed
watching you and listening to you
on Youtube.
Love the sweet little birds on
the table cloth that your MOTH
spilt the wine on. Glad there
was no lasting stain there.
Am trying to ease up on Ebay. It's
too easy to get carried away there.
I've been stocking up on charts and
threads. bad Judy!!!

I love your first block and I'm so glad you were able to use the fabrics I sent you! Now I shall sit back and watch you embellish it. Just beautiful!

ReplyDeleteIts beautiful Gina! I've always wanted to try crazy quilting..just a pillow or something small. I'm a time waster I'm afraid...always lots planned and the day gets by me so quickly!
