Assisi table cloth.
My latest eBay win - Assisi cloths are not commonly found - I rarely see them here anyway, don't know about overseas.
Detail of the lovely stitching.
Hi girls, thanks for visiting! Judy, Assisi is the term used to describe this style of embroidery, where only the outline of the subject (usual animal or floral) is stitched, and the background filled in with cross stitch. It is said to have originated in the town of Assisi in Italy.
Gina this tablecloth is incredible! I've got goosebumps looking at it! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find Gina! You must be stoked to have it in your collection now :)
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely!

Gina, This piece is incredibly beautiful. Why is it called an Assisi cloth? Cheers Judy
