Patra's Place will be mostly about my linen collection, but also about my SINS (Stuff I'll Never Stitch), UFOs (UnFinished Objects) and projects that I am currently working on. Since I created this first blog, I have diversified somewhat! You can see the list of my other blogs, and my favourite websites and blogs by other people, on the sidebar.

Crinoline lady centrepiece
This is one end of a centrepiece I found in an antique shop last weekend while we were away. I showed it to some friends yesterday and one of them asked if it was patchwork! She didn't realise the orange dress is made up of tiny individual stitches.
How rare this must be...all that wonderful stitching must add up to a lot of patience and skill. Beautiful! Yesterday at an antique mall, I got some goodies. A dresser scarf, and a crocheted tablecloth and a large round doily. Loving it all!
Gina, This lady is amazing! The work put into her skirt makes my hair curl, and my eyes ache. I can't make it out...what kind of stitching was used to fill it in? I've been searching for your embroidered post cards here and I've found one posted in May. Then I start reading your blog and enjoying the pictures and get side tracked. Are there more? Cheers.
That is incredible! I had to click on/enlarge the picture to prove to myself that it really was stitches. Yikes! I'm not a fan of orange, but this may be one of your most beautiful crinoline ladies. Very impressive.
Gina it is beautiful........I bet the back is as lovely as the front too.
