Maggie Ann, yes ...Hi girls, nice to hear from you. Maggie Ann, yes tea cosies are usually put over the teapot to keep it warm. Nowadays they are usually knitted or quilted, but way-back-when, decorative designs were embroidered on linen or other material. There was a plain padded liner which sat over the pot, and the stitched cover went over that.<BR/>Nicki, I have lost count now - one day I plan to make an inventory, but the more items I get, the longer it is going to take!! I probably have about 160 tablecloths, about 60 aprons, maybe 40 or more tea cosies and nearly a thousand other items like doilies and napkins, etc. I would love to see your cloths - do take care of those, they are family heirlooms! So many people chuck them out - that's how I get mine. I can't bear to see those hours of work discarded, so I pick things up from garage sales, etc and of course ebay. That is why I collect!Gina E.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07532527261977368083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11847921.post-1121205581050737402005-07-13T07:59:00.000+10:002005-07-13T07:59:00.000+10:00Just out of curiosity, how many pieces do you have...Just out of curiosity, how many pieces do you have and what started you collecting? It's an amazing collection - I've never seen anything like it! I just have two tablecloths, one stitched by my mum and one by my great aunt.
